Difference between My Watcher and Awakening

If you have been following the Zeuorian Series, you probably noticed I just released two free short stories and My Watcher while Awakening has been pulled from the online book stores.

As part of the up coming launch of the next book Control this fall, I’m offering prequel free short stories and an extended version of Awakening (book 1) to re-spark interest in the series, because it has been a while since the first book has been launched. (Sorry life got in the way. The past year I’ve been sick and so has my 3 year-old son. I swear getting old sucks.)

The Short Stories
Lexi Greene’s Dangerous Lesson and Grim Awakening are the two combined stories in Monster broken out into their own books. (Actually Dangerous Lesson had been published prior to Monster and pulled from the stores for a limited time.)

In addition to those two free stories there will be several other free prequel short stories being posted in the next month. The stories will lead up to book 1 with short scenes from other characters (i.e. Tyler, Everett and others) in the book. However, none of the scenes will spill as to who is her real Watcher, which was still up in the air at the end of book 1 (intentionally).

Upcoming Short Stories Teaser:

Its seems danger is everywhere Lexi discovered after being forced to attend high school, but is it random or because they believe she is a monster for having telepathy.

Awakening Extended Version (My Watcher)

If you read book 1, you are probably wondering what has changed in the book and do I need to buy it?

Well if you don’t have the time or money to pay 2.99, you can skip buying this book and won’t be lost reading Control. For one I plan on briefly explaining story facts in the next book to bring new readers up to speed, if by chance they buy it before My Watcher. (And yes it happens.) However several new scenes have been added to the book and facts that will be referenced throughout the series that might be worth reading. But if you’re not sure, here is a brief list of what had been added to the story:

  • Scenes to explain further Zeuorian history and Lexi’s powers.
  • Scenes to deepen the love story
  • Scenes to deepen secondary characters and give them more backstory as well as make them sound unique and not cliche or flat.
  • Scenes to deepen Angie’s love interest.
  • Final scene with Tyler and his father to introduce his character for Book Hunted and explain in detail Tyler’s actions in book Control.

If you decide to buy the next book great. It will be released on April 8th. You can preorder here:

Amazon
Nook
ITunes
Kobo
Smashwords

Update 4/5/16

Awakening will be exclusively available on Amazon Kindle for those of you who want to read the shorter version.

Control Update

Update 4/23/18

Hey to all you Zeuorian fans,

I’ve finished Control, but I’m waiting to publish until after the new short stories are finished. I don’t want to reveal some secrets beforehand.

Control is written and done. I had a couple of beta readers look over it and like what they read with exception of a few issues they pointed out.

Anyway, you’re going to enjoy the new story twists in regards with Tyler , which will lead into the next book Hunted. For you die hard romantics who didn’t feel I spent enough time on Lexi’s and Everett’s romance, this book is truly the beginning of their relationship. You’ll get to see Lexi’s feelings grow stronger toward Everett and get to know Everett even better.

Book 1 Awakening, was never intended to be a typical romance per se where boy meets girl and they fall for each other, but something keeps them apart until the end. Rather it was Lexi’s journey from being closed off and reluctant to even talk to anyone other than Angie to opening up, making friends and finally accepting to date someone. Although, I found some of the Goodreads reviews about her falling for every guy and kissing them quite interesting, especially since I didn’t write the story that way.

Separate news, I’m working on Her Watcher (the extended version of Awakening) where you get to see Scott’s POV of Awakening. Definitely a more romantic suspense compared to Awakening, which is a thriller. In the story you get to see what really happened behind Lexi’s back. As well as the other side of Tyler, The Community, Everett and his past with Lexi.

Well that’s all for now.

Zeuorian Series Update

My book publish dates are sliding. I know, I’m sorry. But running a business, raising a 3 year old and writing can be challenging. Who am I kidding, it’s downright difficult to do. When my 3 year old says “mommy stop reading” or “Look at me” I do what he says. If I don’t, he’ll take my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and hide it and I don’t want him to ever think he’s second best to a computer.

Plus I added a few additional stories to the list I’m publishing. I added Control. It was going to be a short story and it has grown to a 30,000 word Novelette about the time between the ending of Awakening and beginning of Hunted. I thought the story needed to be told more than a short highlight in book 2. It answer a lot of questions about Lexi and her Watcher’s past. Why she is quickly falling for him and why Tyler acts the way he had in book 1.

I also added a Lexi’s Dangerous Lesson short story. It’s a teaser for book 2: Hunted. I had published the prologue under that title in the past, but pulled it off the shelf when I renamed it Monster. But I plan to replace it with the teaser instead and offer it for free.

Finally, I added Awakening Extended Version. It’ll have Her Watcher’s POV as well as some of the deleted chapters showing more of Lexi and Her Watchers romance and past that got cut in the name of mystery.

Tentative Dates:

  • Awakening Extended Version (Renamed as My Watcher): Winter 2016
  • Lexi Greene’s Dangerous Lesson Short Story: Winter 2016
  • \

  • Lexi Greene’s Grim Awakening Short Story: Winter 2016
  • Control: Fall 2016
  • Hunted: 2017

Opposition Book Review

Opposition: A Lux Novel BOOK 5

by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Opposition Cover

Overview

The world changed the night the Luxen came, and now Daemon will do anything to save Katy…even if that means betrayal. For Katy, the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy them all. As it becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world crumbles around them, they may lose everything–even what they cherish most–to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind. War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

My Review

I started to read the series, because a reviewer claimed my book The Zeuorian Awakening was a ripoff of Obsidian and I was curious to see if in fact the author plagiarized my book, which they didn’t. Then I decided to read book 2 and 3. I was going to give up on the series, but I’m a sucker for serials with cliffhangers. So I bought book 4 and 5 to see what happened to Katy.

I really had a hard time getting into this book. The whole alien invasion I had a difficult time with. As well as Daemon and Dawson are the only ones not controlled by the Luxen leader like Dee. Not once did they try to get word to Katy or Bethany of the situation.

Of course Katy does something stupid and gets caught. Her typical. Daemon must risk being considered a traitor and killed to save her, again. Then while surrounded by aliens who want her dead, they have sex. Ah, please. Talk about a filler.

Dawson, Daemon and Katy escape with DOD and Luc’s help. Dee stayed behind. She doesn’t want to feel anymore and likes being a drone. Okay.

Now they are staying with the DOD and helping to fight the aliens. All the while having sex. That was the point I skipped to the end. I had enough.

***spoiler alert***

Just as I suspected everyone survived and the bad aliens were taken care of by the Arum. Daemon and Katy now live together and go to college in Colorado. They are getting married soon. Dee has a beau and Dawson has a kid with Bethany. All is great in the world and they are also free of the DOD.

Only bad that came out of everything is that Katy’s mom died, which was no big deal to Katy or to me. Her character sort of disappeared after book 2 and any feelings for her disappeared as well.

So I bought this book to see what happened to Katy.

The book was interesting, but I still had a hard time believing the DOD or Dadelus, would kidnap and torture previously human now alien-hybrids. Like I said in my review of Opal, I have my conspiracy theories like many people do, but I also don’t think a secret government group would be stupid and kidnap a person and then ask them to join their cause. They would ask them first so the person doesn’t immediately think they are bad and refuse to help.

I also had an issue with Katy fighting the secret group. It was a little stupid. She knows there is no escaping. They are going to spray her with stuff that makes her suffer if she refuses to cooperate. But she does it when a doctor tries to exam her and take blood.

I was surprised Dee pretty much wrote Katy off. She no longer cared about her. And Dawson after Daemon and Katy risked everything to help him get Bethany free, tried to stop him from saving Katy.

***spoiler alert***

After Luc sprung Daemon and Katy out of area 51, Dee, Dawson, Mathew, Ash and the gang show. They finally decided to try and save them. Of course this is after they graduated high school 4 months later, which they rub into Katy’s and Daemon’s faces. Daemon gets a warm welcome and Katy a so so one. Still the outcast, but Dee finally forgives her for Adams death. Please. It never was her fault in the first place.

Like the other books just when they thought everything was safe another friend turns on them–Mathew. He was the one who sold out Dawson and Bethany. They run for their lives and make a public speculation on TV to keep from getting capture. It still amazes me why that hadn’t happened earlier with so many hybrids escaping the DOD.

The book ends with an alien invasion and Daemon, Dee and Dawson joining them while leaving Katy, Bethany and origins behind.

Yet again I skipped reading half the book to bypass the boring parts and find out what happened at the end.

Opal Book Review

Opal: A Lux Novel BOOK 3

by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Opal Covet

Overview

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing alien hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

My Review

I started to read the series, because a reviewer claimed my book The Zeuorian Awakening was a ripoff of Obsidian and I was curious to see if in fact the author plagiarized my book, which they didn’t. Then I decided to read the next book and continued to read the third book despite not liking the second book as much as the first one.

Yeah, I know, I’m a sucker for serials with cliffhangers.

Anyway Opal was a little better than book 2. The story is focused on getting Bethany, Dawson’s girlfriend out of DOD hands with Blake’s help. He is no longer with the DOD and wants to free his alien friend too. He is blackmailing Katy and Daemon into working with him. They agree only if he helps to get Bethany out too. Of course the plan doesn’t go smooth and Blake turns on Katy again.

Katy wasn’t as stupid in this book and she actually thought of something smart to handle Dawson. However I thought it was a little ridiculous Katy took complete responsibility for Adam, Dee’s boyfriend, death when she tried to stop Blake, but she couldn’t.

Even though the book was better than Onyx, I found myself getting bored halfway through the book. I ended up skipping to the end so I could find out what happened instead of reading the second half of the book.

I also had a hard time believing the DOD would kidnap and torture previously human now alien-hybrids. I have my conspiracy theories about them like many people do, but I also don’t think they’re stupid and force people to join their cause. Something like that will leak out. And they would talk to the new hybrid’s first. Win their trust. It’s easier to work together when they cooperate than force them. It’s also easier to keep the whole alien thing under wraps too. No fear of a previous captive spilling to the news.
